Matt O’Neil has a wealth of copywriting, marketing and social media experience. Soon after moving to Chicago in 2007, he was hired as copywriter and lead researcher for the LGB advertising agency. In 2012, Matt began a 10-year run as Social Media Coordinator for Adena Springs Farm. He served as Marketing Director for a portion of that time, coordinating and creating digital and print ad campaigns. Matt is proficient in Photoshop and currently manages the social media accounts and website for Legacy Bloodstock.

From his twin bases in Chicago and Mexico City, Matt is constantly soaking up the world around him. He infuses these observations into his work. His foray into photography has been a natural extension of his curiosity and desire to see the world from different perspectives.

A thoroughbred industry-focused freelance writer since 2001, Matt quickly gained a reputation for concisely distilling breeding theory and statistics into reader-friendly copy as a regular contributor to The Florida-Horse and Owner-Breeder International. He graduated to editor of the latter and served in that position for two years until the publication was sold to The Blood-Horse MarketWatch. More recently, his work has been featured in Daily Racing Form.

Over the years, Matt has branched out from the more technical demands of the thoroughbred market to tackle mainstream features and creative pieces. His work has appeared in a variety of outlets, from the restaurant publication Prep Magazine to the independent newspaper The Chevy Chaser.
